Ex-Turkey merchant bar export prices rise slightly

Turkey’s merchant bar export prices have increased by $5/mt over the past two weeks and equal angle export prices are currently standing at $455-475/mt FOB, for December shipments. Slightly higher offers were reported from some producers; however, such levels are hardly achievable under the current market conditions.

Market sources indicate that an equal angle offer to Romania for approximately 1,000-2,000 mt was at €445-450/mt ($492-$498/mt) CFR Constanta. As of November 19, Turkey’s remaining merchant bar quota in the European Union (EU) is 31,162 mt out of 98,937 mt. Therefore, European buyers are cautious regarding new purchases, SteelOrbis understands. In addition, Turkish producers report that merchant bar inquiries keep coming from Egypt and African countries.
