On Monday, March 29, as scheduled a leading Iran-based producer closed its steel billet tender. The supplier managed to get its target price, selling 30,000 mt of steel billet to a trader, for early May shipment at $560/mt FOB BIK. Before the Nowruz holiday, the same steel producer in Iran closed a tender for the same volume of steel billet at $550/mt FOB BIK, for April shipment. The material in the most recent booking is expected to be supplied to China or Southeast Asia, with sufficient demand and booming prices currently seen in those destinations. As SteelOrbis reported earlier, following the most recent ex-ASEAN billet deals in China at $630-635/mt CFR, most fresh offers for billet of the same origin have increased to $640-645/mt CFR. Non-ASEAN billet in China is subject to two percent import duty, which is worth taking into consideration.
