Ex-Turkey merchant bar prices trend up

In the past week, Turkish merchant bar export prices have risen by $10/mt to $710-730/mt for November-early December shipment, while a limited tonnage is available for late October shipment, depending on the size and quality. The main reasons are high production costs and the unclear financial situation worldwide. Moreover, Russia’s latest announcement of a partial military mobilization has significantly depressed the market mood. A few merchant bar producers are offering slightly higher than the abovementioned levels in order to be on the safe side given their high production costs.

A few inquiries have been received from the Middle East, while overall sentiment on the demand side is negative for now.

Turkish merchant bar export prices are currently at the following levels:

Price ($/mt)

710-730

IPN-UPN

Flat bar

All prices are on FOB basis and November-early December shipment.
