Ex-Turkey merchant bar prices have settled at $720-740/mt FOB, versus $715-730/mt FOB two weeks ago, for late August-September shipment, against the backdrop of the billet and import scrap price trend. However, most international buyers are in wait-and-see mode as they want to be on the safe side if import scrap and billet prices soften in the short term. Most merchant bar re-rollers are quoting for September shipment to Europe in order to meet the next quota period which begins on October 1. Also, the US dollar being as strong as the euro has become a challenge for sales to Europe.

Turkish merchant bar export prices are currently at the following levels:

Product

Price ($/mt)

Angle

720-740

IPN-UPN

730-750

Flat bar

750-770

IPE

730-750

All prices are on FOB basis and for Late August- September shipment.
