During the past week, Turkish wire rod producers have kept their domestic prices stable in the range of $510-525/mt ex-works. The Turkish construction sector has remained sluggish in the given period. Market players are waiting with some impatience to see the trend of the local Turkish wire rod market after the end-of-Ramadan holiday. Meanwhile, some buyers who are unwilling to bear extra inventory costs during the holiday have postponed their purchases until after the holiday, while some buyers are concluding domestic wire rod purchases only in line with their daily needs.
SteelOrbis has been informed by market sources that delivery times for new orders, particularly from some mills in Turkey’s southern regions, are for middle and late June. These longer delivery times are a result of the mills’ fairly full order books for June and also due to the end-of-Ramadan holiday.
