Last week, domestic wire rod price in Turkey were expected to move up considering the sharp rises seen in import scrap prices in Turkey, tight wire rod supply and also due to good demand. In line with this expectation, Turkish steel mills increased their domestic wire rod quotations towards the end of last week. Meanwhile, demand in the local Turkish wire rod market is still at good levels. SteelOrbis has also been informed that, in addition to good domestic demand, foreign buyers’ demand for Turkish wire rod has been at good levels for a while now. Accordingly, Turkish steelmakers are concluding many export sales, while supply of Turkish wire rod is still tight.
