Since SteelOrbis’ report published on May 15, demand in the local Turkish wire rod market has remained weak. In this period, Turkish wire rod producers have kept their domestic prices stable. Market sources state that the significant depreciation of the Turkish lira against the US dollar has negatively impacted the local Turkish wire rod market, leading buyers to conclude purchases only in line with their needs. On the other hand, Ramadan and the snap election in Turkey to be held on June 24 are also negatively impacting trading activity in the local Turkish wire rod market.
