Demand in the local Turkish rebar market has made a quiet start to the current week. Market sources state that buyers in the local Turkish rebar market have maintained their wait-and-see stance due to the ongoing volatility of the Turkish lira-US dollar exchange rate following the depreciation of the Turkish lira against the US dollar. Meanwhile, domestic rebar prices in Turkey have increased by TRY 34-59/mt since SteelOrbis’ report published on October 18.
Additionally, SteelOrbis has been informed that Turkish producer Icdas’ 12-32 mm rebar prices in Turkey's Marmara region are now at TRY 2,864/mt ($507/mt) + VAT ex-works, while its rebar prices in Biga, Canakkale in northwestern Turkey are at TRY 2,831/mt ($501/mt) + VAT ex-works. The mill’s list prices have moved up by TRY 55-56/mt + VAT as compared to its previous price list issued on October 18, while due to currency fluctuations prices have increased by $1/mt on US dollar basis.
As of today, October 22, traders’ rebar offers in the Turkish domestic market are as follows:
