Domestic rebar prices in Turkey decrease amid increasing ex-Iran rebar imports

Having been slack during the last week, demand in the local Turkish rebar market has started this week with weakness. Market sources state that there are ex-Iran rebar offers to Turkey below TRY 3,000/mt, including VAT, and this situation is negatively impacting domestic rebar bookings in the country, especially in Payas region. Turkish buyers are also concluding rebar deals for domestic rebar occasionally, though domestic rebar bookings are lower as compared to ex-Iran rebar purchases. Besides the ex-Iran offers threatening the market, Turkish lira has regained some of its losses against the US dollar last week. Consequently, spot prices in the local Turkish rebar market have decreased by TRY 34-94/mt over the past week.

Meanwhile Turkish producer Icdas’ 12-32 mm rebar prices in Turkey's Marmara region are now at TRY 2,763//mt ($518/mt) + VAT ex-works. The mill’s list prices have moved down by TRY 102/mt + VAT as compared to its previous price list issued on November 12.

As of today, November 19, traders’ rebar offers in the Turkish domestic market are as follows:
