As the Turkish lira has lost significant strength against the US dollar over the past two weeks, demand in the local Turkish merchant bar market has come to a near halt, having been at low levels for some time now. On the other hand, market sources state that Turkish merchant bar producers have significantly increased their domestic prices due to higher production costs caused by the change in the Turkish lira-US dollar exchange rate.
