Currently, buyers in the local Turkish merchant bar market continue to conclude merchant bar purchases only in line with their needs, with demand in the market still at low levels. On the other hand, market sources state that, while Turkish merchant bar producers increased their domestic offers last week following the rises seen in import scrap and billet quotations, no significant increase in their domestic merchant bar prices has been recorded in the current week. As a result, domestic merchant bar quotations in Turkey have moved up by TRY 45-95/mt since SteelOrbis' last report on March 2.
