Demand received from buyers in the local Turkish billet market has failed to improve over the past week and is still at low levels. Market sources state that trading activity in the local Turkish billet market has slowed down significantly during the past week due to Ramadan which started today, May 16, and also due to the snap election in Turkey to be held next month and the sharp depreciation of the Turkish lira against the US dollar throughout the current week. Under the current circumstances, Turkish billet producers have kept their domestic offers stable as compared to last week at $535-545/mt ex-works.
