During the week ending July 11, Chinese domestic semi-finished steel prices have either indicated minor fluctuations or moved sideways, while transaction activity in the market has been at low-to-medium levels. Average prices of steel billet and slab in the local Chinese market are presented in the following table.
During the given week, following the rises seen in domestic semi-finished steel prices, buyers have been less willing to conclude purchases, resulting in price declines in some regions of the country. In addition, the hot weather conditions in China have exerted a negative impact on demand from downstream users. It is thought that semi-finished prices in the Chinese domestic market will likely move down slightly in the coming week.
