Having made a quiet start to the current week, demand in the local Turkish rebar market has remained at low levels in subsequent days. As a result of the appreciation of the Turkish lira against the US dollar amid fluctuations throughout the current week, domestic rebar prices have fallen slightly but demand is not expected to recover due to the ongoing economic problems in the sectors which have close ties with the steel market, such as the construction sector. Additionally, domestic rebar quotations in Turkey have decreased by TRY 26-60/mt as compared to SteelOrbis’ report published on January 14.
