Local Turkish rebar spot prices have increased by TRY 17-26/mt compared to yesterday, December 11 - excluding the Iskenderun region – due to the influence of the uptrend of import scrap quotations. But since demand in the local Turkish rebar market is at low levels, traders in the Iskenderun region where prices are relatively higher have started to offers discounts to stimulate sales. Meanwhile, some Turkish mills in the Iskenderun region are expected to announce their rebar sales prices by December 16 due to the strength of import scrap prices. In addition, SteelOrbis heard that rebar producers are still offering discounts of TRY 20-40/mt for serious buyers in most regions of Turkey, also trying to stimulate their sales.
Today, December 12, Turkish mill Icdas has kept its 12-32 mm rebar prices stable at TRY 2,619/mt ($453/mt) ex-works, while Izmir Demir Celik has kept its 12-32 mm rebar prices unchanged at TRY 2,627/mt ($455/mt) ex-works, both excluding VAT.
As of today, rebar offers in the Turkish spot market are as follows:
