CIS-based billet exporters are observed to have received demand particularly from Far Eastern markets after the holiday season. Market sources state that CIS-based billet exporters are using the advantage of slightly higher Chinese billet offers, concluding sales to the Far East at $450/mt CFR. Meanwhile, these sales concluded to the Far Eastern markets have strengthened CIS-based billet exporters’ hand, helping them to keep their price levels stable. While no demand from Turkey for ex-CIS billet has been heard, CIS-based suppliers’ billet offers to Egypt are standing at $425-430/mt CFR. On the other hand, ex-CIS billet offers to international markets have remained stable week on week at $400-410/mt FOB.
