Chinese domestic steel section prices have mostly moved down slightly in the past seven days.

As for billet, prices of the semi-finished steel product in the Chinese domestic market have softened by a small margin during the past week. In Tangshan, the current price of Q235 150 x 150 mm square billet is at RMB 3,390/mt ($478/mt), the price of 165 x 225 mm rectangular billet stands at RMB 3,410/mt ($481/mt), while the price of 20MnSi billet is at around RMB 3,490/mt ($492/mt). The prices are all ex-mill, including 13 percent VAT.

Chinese steel section steel prices have fluctuated on a slightly soft trend during the past week, due to the minor downticks seen in billet prices and the weakness of demand amid rainy weather conditions. Overall trading activity has been at low levels after prices increased in the previous week. As for the week ahead, against the backdrop of still high costs and weak demand, it is believed that domestic steel section prices may indicate further minor downticks.
