Chinese domestic steel section prices have showed a fluctuation with mostly slightly rebounding trend during past week.
As for billet, prices of the semi-finished steel product in the Chinese domestic market have continued an upward trend during past week. In Tangshan, the current price of Q235 150 x 150 mm square billet is at RMB 3,440/mt ($486/mt), the price of 165 x 225 mm rectangular billet stands at RMB 3,460/mt ($488/mt), while the price of 20MnSi billet is at around RMB 3,540/mt ($500/mt). The prices are all ex-mill, including 13 percent VAT.
In the given week, overall trading activity in the local Chinese steel section market has increased, though remained at normal levels. Prices of billet and other raw materials in spot and futures markets have mostly showed an upward trend, which has provided strong support for steel section prices. Meanwhile, due to the upcoming production cuts at the end of this month, producers increased their production volumes in the week in question. As for the week ahead, the supply volume may still increase and demand side also may increase cause by sale season. Therefore, it is believed that section steel market prices may continue a fluctuation in small margin.
