During the week ending November 7, Chinese domestic semi-finished steel prices have mostly indicated a slight downtrend, though prices have edged up slightly in Fuzhou and Tangshan, while transaction activity in the market has been at low-to-medium levels. Average prices of steel billet and slab in the local Chinese market are presented in the following table.
During the given week, semi-finished steel prices in China have mostly softened slightly as demand has been slack while supply has increased compared to the previous period. Downstream users are less willing to conclude purchases of semi-finished steel at present. Meanwhile, domestic demand for finished steel has remained on the slack side, negatively impacting demand for semi-finished steel. It is thought that semi-finished steel prices in the Chinese domestic market will fluctuate on a soft trend in the coming week.
