Brazil exported 13,800 mt of wire rod in November, a 67 percent decline from the 41,800 mt exported in October, according to the ministry of development, industry and foreign trade, MDIC.
The average FOB export price increased by 3.4 percent to $430/mt, pointing to the drawing grade product exported at $459/mt FOB and the mesh grade product at $388/mt FOB.
The main exporters were Gerdau (8,000 mt at $367/mt) and ArcelorMittal (5,700 mt at $515/mt), while the Votorantim group exported a small tonnage from its Resende plant, in Rio de Janeiro state, at $640/mt, all FOB conditions.
South American countries were the main destination with 7,100 mt at $390/mt, followed by the US (4,500 mt at $494/mt), the EU (1,500 mt at $322/mt) and Canada (700 mt at $633/mt), all FOB conditions.
Meanwhile, Brazil imported in November 2,000 mt of wire rod from China at $389/mt and 700 mt from the EU at $701/mt, both FOB conditions.
A distributor linked to a major producer told SteelOrbis that he is selling in the domestic market the mesh grade product at BRL 3,004/mt ($762/mt) and the drawing grade product at BRL 3,359/mt ($853/mt), both CFR, full taxes conditions, following an average 4 percent increase earlier this month.
