The reference price for Brazilian rebar exports is currently $860/mt, against $800/mt two weeks ago, FOB conditions for the CA-50 grade, for sales to South American countries.
In April, Brazil exported 21,100 mt of rebar while importing 21,800 mt of the product, comparable to 32,900 mt and 31,000 mt, respectively, in March.
The exports in April were all destined to South American countries, shipped by ArcelorMittal (17,400 mt at $739/mt) and by Gerdau (3,700 mt at $494/mt), FOB conditions. Some of the exports could be inter-company deals, with prices not necessarily linked to market conditions.
The imports were all from Turkey, in average at $496/mt, FOB conditions.
In the Brazilian domestic market, rebar is offered by producers in medium to large volumes at BRL 6,749/mt ($1,276/mt), against BRL 6,194/mt two weeks ago, ex-works, full taxes except IPI, for the supply in the country’s Southeast and South regions. For the North and Northeastern regions, prices are reportedly BRL 100/mt higher, under the same conditions. The increase reflects chiefly higher international prices of the product.
