The reference price for Brazilian rebar exports is currently in a range of $680/mt to $700/mt, against a range of $600/mt to $620/mt three weeks ago, FOB conditions for the CA-50 grade, for sales to South American countries.
In December, Brazil exported 39,500 mt of rebar while importing 3,700 mt of the product, comparable respectively to 24,700 mt and 11,300 mt in November.
The destination of the Brazilian exports in December was South America. The exporters in December were ArcelorMittal (22,000 mt at $522/mt) and Gerdau (17,500 mt at $487/mt). Imports were from Turkey, in average at $475/mt, FOB conditions.
In the domestic market, rebar is offered by producers in medium to large volumes at BRL 5,319/mt ($969/mt) against BRL 5,149/mt three weeks ago, ex-works, full taxes except IPI, for the supply in the country’s Southeast and South regions. For the North and Northeastern regions, prices are reportedly BRL 80/mt higher, under the same conditions.
