The reference price for the export of rebar by Brazilian producers is currently $800/mt, FOB conditions for the CA-50 grade, for sales to South American countries, against $850/mt two weeks ago.

Local sources have also mentioned some offers heard at $750/mt under the same conditions, adding that there is a limited volume currently available for export, as the focus of the producers remains in serving the domestic market.

In June, Brazil exported 21,600 mt of rebar, in average at $721/mt, while importing 30,200 mt of the product at $624/mt, both FOB conditions.  If exports considered as non-market offers are excluded, the average export price of June would increase to $790/mt FOB.

In the Brazilian domestic market, rebar is offered by producers in medium to large volumes at BRL 6,838/mt ($1,315/mt) against BRL 6,291/mt two weeks ago, ex-works, full taxes except IPI, for the supply in the country’s Southeast and South regions. For the North and Northeastern regions, prices are reportedly BRL 70/mt higher, under the same conditions.
