Now in the third month of stability, export rebar offers from Brazil remain negotiated in average at $590/mt, FOB conditions, having the CA-50 grade as reference.
With production costs increased by the higher energy tariffs in recent years, Brazilian rebar exports are currently limited to Latin America and the US, where logistics are more favorable.
The scenario could be changed in January with the announcement of lower energy tariffs by the local agencies, reflecting prospects for an intense rainy season that would increase the water levels at hydroelectric dams and thus reduce the need for the expensive thermoelectric energy.
In November, ArcelorMittal exported rebar at $522/mt, Gerdau at $476/mt and the Votorantim group at $514/mt, all FOB conditions, with price deals probably closed in September.
