A new week has started with another price increase in the Turkish billet market as one sale was done at the weekend at a higher price level. A mill based in the Iskenderun region has sold 10,000 mt of billet to a local customer at $410/mt ex-works, while the highest deal price in the last round of sales was reported at $406-407/mt ex-works for small lots. Some mills in the same area have started to target $415/mt ex-works, while similar levels are heard in the Izmir region. Local producer Kardemir is now expected to open its new sales at $410/mt ex-works minimum, SteelOrbis understands.

Import billet prices in this situation are expected to be in the range of $410-420/mt CFR depending on the seller and the shipment date. Last week, the highest level fixed in a deal was $403/mt CFR, as SteelOrbis reported. Ex-UK billet offers are set at $435/mt CFR for now.
