Two major steel producers in Algeria have set new domestic offers for rebar and wire rod. However, their prices on US dollar basis have remained largely unchanged compared to last month’s levels.
Tosyali Algerie has increased its rebar and wire rod prices by DZD 500/mt to DZD 62,250/mt ex-works and DZD 70,250/mt ex-works, respectively. The respective offers on dollar basis have inched up by only $1-2/mt over the past month to $475/mt ex-works and $491/mt ex-works.
Algerian Qatari Steel, on the contrary, has left its rebar offers unchanged at DZD 65,000/mt ex-works, but has decreased its wire rod price by DZD 500/mt to DZD 72,000/mt ex-works, SteelOrbis has learned. As a result, on dollar basis, the producer’s offers for rebar and wire rod are currently set at $496/mt ex-works, down $2/mt, and $503/mt ex-works, decreasing by $6/mt, compared to last month’s levels.
The US dollar-denominated prices exclude nine and 19 percent VAT for rebar and wire rod, respectively.
