While demand in the local Turkish wire rod market has been characterized by weakness over the past seven days, domestic wire rod prices in Turkey have mostly remained stable, except for the quotations in Turkey’s Iskenderun region. The slower pace of the local construction sector and the sluggishness of demand for Turkish welded wire mesh and steel wire exports against the backdrop of the slow summer season are causing Turkish wire rod buyers to be cautious about making new purchases.
On the other hand, SteelOrbis has been informed that there are mesh grade wire rod offers from the CIS region to Turkey at $485-490/mt FOB, for August and September shipments. However, considering the delivery terms and freight charges in question, import wire rod bookings do not seem attractive for Turkish wire rod buyers.
