USS-Posco Industries (UPI) today has announced they will be raising prices for all sheet steel products by a minimum of $2.00 cwt. ($44/mt or $40/nt), effective immediately.

The announcement from the California-based steelmaker comes two weeks after Midwest and Southern-based flat rolled steel mills announced similar increases.

UPI has not announced new base-pricing for hot rolled coil, cold rolled coil or hot dipped galvanized coil.  At current, the only US-based flat rolled steelmaker that has announced minimum base pricing for flat rolled steel products is ArcelorMittal USA (AMUSA).  AMUSA’s base pricing in their early-January price increase announcement put HRC at $32.00 cwt. ($706/mt or $640/nt), and CRC and HDG at $41.00 cwt. ($904/mt or $820/nt).
