US plate mills had hoped to push spot market prices up by $2.00 cwt. ($44/mt or $40/nt) following an announced price increase, but the increase has failed to gain full acceptance.

Current prices are up by $1.00 cwt ($22/mt or $20/nt), from $30.00 cwt. ($661/mt or $600/nt) ex-mill, to an average of $31.00 cwt. ($683/mt or $620/nt) ex-mill.

Sources continue to report that discounts are available based on volume.
