US import HDG pricing stable after last week’s revisions

Last week, SteelOrbis reported that offshore offer prices for US import 0.012”x40.875” G30 HDG coil in the US domestic market from the UAE had softened by $3 cwt ($66/mt or $60/nt), while offer prices from Vietnam had widened by $1 cwt. ($22/mt or $20/nt) on the top end.

Prices, sources note, have since stabilized. Some trader sources say they believe that there could be additional revisions in the upcoming months, since mills are still selling HDG coil to US customers “at a premium” and “at a far higher price than they can sell it in other places in the world. Even with price reductions, the mills are still turning a hefty profit.”
