Prices for US import 0.012”x40.875” G30 HDG coil and US import 0.019x41.5625 Gr80/AZ55 Galvalume coil have once again remained lateral, as pricing has remained stable week-over-week. This stability has been maintained since the start of the month.
Trader sources continue to report that buyers are reluctant to take on large position tons, concerned that the US market is poised for a correction. Last week, AMUSA announced a $1.50 cwt. ($33/my or $30/nt) price increase on US HDG coil, despite short lead times and soft zinc prices. The increase was not accepted.
It’s widely held that the increase announcement was less about pushing prices upward and instead more about preventing prices from slipping.
