US import HDG prices stable despite year-over-year dip in tonnages

US import hot dipped galvanized sheet and strip imports to the US have declined markedly year-over-year, from 316,666 mt in April 2018, to 215,649 mt in April of this year. Sources close to SteelOrbis continue to report that buyers are unwilling to book tons offshore, if what they need is available from domestic producers, due to more favorable lead times.

Import pricing, however, remains stable.
