The most commonly heard offer prices for imported 0.012”x40.875” G30 hot dipped galvanized (HDG) coil and 0.019x41.5625 Gr80/AZ55 Galvalume coil in the US domestic market have continued to trend sideways, although some sources close to SteelOrbis are starting to question how much longer US traders will be offering US import HDG and Galvalume coil to their customers.
Late last week, US President Donald Trump signed an executive order today launching a Section 232 investigation, which will establish whether steel imports pose a threat to national security. A report is expected within 270 days of initiation, although it’s believed the report will be completed “well in advance of that deadline.” If the investigative is affirmative, it could significantly restrict the import of steel products to the US.
“Everything is still stable from last week but there’s a lot of questions when it comes to how long trading companies will be able to offer,” one source said.
Current pricing 0.019x41.5625 Gr80/AZ55 Galvalume coil in the US domestic market from Brazil continues to trend at $46-$48 cwt. ($1014-$1058/mt or $920-$960/nt), DDP loaded truck in US Gulf coast ports; offer prices for 0.019x41.5625 Gr80/AZ55 Galvalume coil in the US domestic market from Vietnam are also stable at $47-$48 cwt. ($1036-$1058/mt or $940-$960/nt), DDP loaded truck in US Gulf coast ports.
Lastly, pricing for imported 0.012”x40.875” G30 hot dipped galvanized (HDG) coil in the US domestic market from the UAE, Turkey and India continue to trend at $44-$46 cwt. ($970-$1014/mt or $880-$920/nt), DDP loaded truck in US Gulf coast ports.
