US HDG spot market prices still drifting downward

The most commonly heard spot market price transaction range for US HDG coil have softened by an additional $1.00 cwt. ($22/mt or $20/nt) since our last report a week ago.

The downtrend is due to mills’ increased capacity utilization coupled by slowing order activity, which is typical during the days leading up to Thanksgiving. A number of market players have taken this week off and as such, overall activity is expected to be very light until people return to the office next week.

The current average spot market price transaction range is listed below.
