Spot market prices for US domestic HDG coil have continued to trend sideways, sources note, adding that deals and discounts for volume buyers “are still readily available.”
“If you’re looking to book some big tons, sure, you can do better,” a source said, noting that the average buyer is still paying in the below stated range.
Demand is “fine,” another source said. “Inventories are okay and the market just seems to be trucking along. At this point, everyone is being mindful of what they’re buying, because while we think prices will continue to firm slightly in Q2, there’s a sense that things will come back down again once we reach the summer.”
