US HDG prices remain lateral

Pricing, order activity and inquiries within the US domestic HDG and Galvalume markets has remained lateral, sources note, adding that customers are still buying cautiously out of concern that prices will begin to erode toward the end of Q2.

Lead times are trending between 6-8 weeks, a Midwest-based source said, which has buyers unconcerned about delays in getting their steel.  Service center inventories have been described as healthy, another source added, noting that “the market is still trucking along and hasn’t experienced any major changes in the past seven days.”
