US flat rolled mills announce price increase

Several US domestic flat rolled mills today announced they will be raising spot market prices on all flat rolled steel products, including hot rolled coil (HRC), cold rolled coil (CRC) and hot dipped galvanized sheets and strip (HDG) by $2.00 cwt. ($44/mt or $40/nt), effective with all new orders.

The mills issuing price announcements include Nucor, ArcelorMittal USA, US Steel, NLMK, and Duferco. Other mills are expected to follow suit.

Current ex-mill spot maket prices are as follows:

HRC: $28.50-$29.50 cwt. ($628-$650/mt or $570-$590/nt)
CRC: $38-$39 cwt. ($838-$860/mt or $760-$780/nt)
HDG base: $37-$38 ($815-$838/mt or $740-$760/nt)
