Pricing within the US domestic hot dipped galvanized and Galvalume coil markets have remained stable in the past week, as the market remained quiet around the Independence Day holiday.
Lead times continue to hold between seven and eight weeks, sources note, adding a strong belief that prices will maintain stability throughout the remainder of the summer. At the same time, buyers are still expressing concern that current market prices are inflated and will be vulnerable to correction in Q4.
Current spot market pricing for US domestic base HDG coil is trending between $50-$52 cwt. ($1102-$1146/mt or $1000-$1040/nt), ex-mill; in contrast, pricing for this same product during the same reporting period 2017 was around $39-$41 cwt. ($860-$904/mt or $780-$820/nt), ex-mill.
