Spot market prices for US domestic cold rolled coil (CRC) continue to trend in the range of $49-$51 cwt. ($1080-$1124/mt or $980-$1020/nt), ex-mill. Buyers and sellers say they don’t expect to see any changes with regard to pricing until after the Trump administration renders its final decision on Section 232 tariffs and quotas on June 1.

“We still don’t know what we don’t know,” one Midwest source said, adding that the fate of imports is still uncertain, although once the final decision is made public, it’s believed that import CRC may still be less expensive than domestic CRC.

“We think the only difference will be that prices for everything will be more expensive, across the board.”
