Last week, SteelOrbis reported that US CRC prices had softened to the range of $43.50-$45.00 cwt. ($959-$992/mt or $870-$900/nt), ex-mill; prices have continued to drift downward.
Today, prices are down by an additional $1.00 cwt. ($22/mt or $20/nt), which brings the current average transaction range to $42.50-$44.00 cwt. ($937-$970/mt or $850-$880/nt), ex-mill. As with last week, deals slightly below the average range are said to be available to volume buyers.
Current prices are down by $7.00 cwt. ($154/mt or $140/nt) from their early-August high of $49.50-$50.50 cwt. ($1,091-$1,113/mt or $990-$1,010/nt) ex-mill. Year-over-year pricing, however, is still up. In mid-December 2017, SteelOrbis reported that the current average transaction range for US domestic CRC was being heard in the range of $40-$42 cwt. ($882-$926/mt or $800-$840/nt), ex-mill.
