The most commonly heard spot price transaction range for US domestic CRC is still holding at $44-$46 cwt. ($970-$1014/mt or $880-$920/nt), ex-mill, but sources close to SteelOrbis say that mills have already begun to quote at $48 cwt. ($1058/mt or $960/nt), ex-mill.

“Pricing isn’t there yet, but that’s what out there,” a source said, adding that imports are currently being heard at $48.50 cwt. ($1069/mt or $970/nt), DDP loaded truck in US Gulf coast ports.

“Inventories are low and there are a lot of people out there who are scrambling,” a source said. “Mills’ lead times are trending out and until something happens where import pricing starts to look more attractive, the domestic mills will have the upper hand.”
