With the support of the higher hot rolled coil (HRC) prices and better business activity Turkish re-rollers have increased their offers for the coated steel by $10-50/mt since last week. Demand has recovered in both local and export markets and the suppliers are offering mainly for May production. Some of them offer for June production but some producers have still a limited allocation for April too. The limited supply problems in cold rolled coil (CRC) market is also one of the supportive factors since almost all of the re-rollers are also CRC producers and the price for the product has an effect on the coated steel offers.
Re-rollers are positive regarding the improving demand and they expect the trade to become even livelier, especially in the export markets. "Export sales are good and many local buyers are buying at the moment because they do not want to experience insufficient stocks because of strong exports again. Spring is coming and traditionally we see better export volumes in spring. On the other hand HRC, scrap and CRC prices are strong and market outlook is positive," a producer told SteelOrbis.
Export prices have also increased by $20-40/mt since last week. Sales have been mainly heard at $1,020-1,030/mt FOB base for HDG and 1080-1090/mt FOB base for PPGI to the US and the EU last week. Demand is expected to recover with the better weather conditions and loosening of the Covid-19 measures in the targeted countries.
