Turkish hot dip galvanized (HDG) and pre-painted galvanized (PPGI) coil producers have started the week with a new price increase as offer levels for hot rolled feedstock have been rising.
HDG base prices have been set for now within $600-620/mt ex-works from most of the local suppliers, while some are aiming to sell $10/mt above. As a result, the offers have added $25-30/mt since the end of last week and around $50/mt since late October. Some suppliers prefer to refrain from active offers for now, most probably aiming to see a clearer market picture. “The demand for coated steel is still low in Turkey. Therefore, prices might roll back soon,” a local player said.
According to the sources, PPGI in the Turkish domestic market is available in a rather wide range. Some re-rollers are offering the product at $680-690/mt ex-works for January deliveries. In the meantime, those suppliers who are currently not under pressure to sell are offering at $700-710/mt ex-works and up to $730/mt ex-works from some mills, SteelOrbis has learned.
