The steel plate trade in Turkey has remained relatively slow, while sliding scrap and hot rolled coil (HRC) prices have pulled down offers for plate in the local and import segments over the past two weeks.

Turkey-based Erdemir is now offering $975-1,025/mt ex-works for plate depending on the steel grade, down $5-15/mt if S235JR material is considered. Local retailers are offering plate at $1,100-1,120/mt ex-warehouse, down $30/mt on the upper end of the range. However, additional discounts may be valid for serious customers.

In the import segment, South Korea has decreased its offers by $10/mt to $840/mt CFR for February deliveries. Bulgaria and Romania are in the market with $980/mt CFR and $970/mt CFR, down $10/mt and $50/mt over the past two weeks, respectively.
