Over the past week, demand for import flat steel in Turkey has remained at low levels, with Turkish buyers making inquiries only when they have urgent needs and exerting further pressure on prices. However, as flat steel prices in the global market have switched to a sideways trend, CIS-based suppliers have been unwilling to reduce their prices sharply and have only occasionally offered discounts. In the short term, demand for imported flat steel in Turkey is not expected to recover due to the approach of the new year, while prices are likely to remain stable, with some slight fluctuations also possible.
In the given period, ex-CIS hot rolled coil (HRC) offers to Turkey have decreased by $7.5/mt on average to $475-500/mt CFR and ex-CIS cold rolled coil (CRC) prices have remained stable at $580-600/mt CFR, respectively.
