Despite the gloomy outlook caused by lack of demand and regional economic problems, Romanian flats traders have been making attempts to increase their retail offers. In the meantime, the sole domestic producer in Romania has chosen to maintain its previous price positions, citing lower restocking activity in the current week.
“Activity is on the low side in Romania and with our competition it is similar. There were no significant transactions heard. I would say these weeks are quiet periods," a representative of the domestic mill told SteelOrbis.
Currently, prices for domestic origin hot rolled coil in Romania have stabilized at €830/mt ex-works. In the meantime, Romanian traders' pricing for hot rolled sheets (HRS) has increased week on week by €20/mt to €860-890/mt ex-warehouse.
“There are other traders that offer lower prices, but we are attempting to keep our prices profitable although we provide discounts to serious purchasers,” a Romanian trader told SteelOrbis.
On the other hand, domestic prices for cold rolled coil (CRC) in Romania have remained stable this week at €930/mt ex-works. On the other hand, traders’ target prices for cold rolled sheet (CRS) have risen by €10-20/mt to €1,020-1,080/mt ex-warehouse.
Furthermore, in the coated steel segment, the domestic market offers for HDG and PPGI have remained stable over the week at €980/mt ex-works and €1,280/mt ex-works, respectively.
Meanwhile, in the import segment, there have been some offers from Italy for HRS at around €1,000/mt DAP, while Ukraine has offered HRS and CRS at €800/mt and CRS at €900/mt delivered to Romania, sources reported.
