During the past week, demand in the local Turkish hot dip galvanized coil (HDG) market has remained slack, while producers’ prices have remained stable. Turkish buyers have continued to postpone their bookings and to exert pressure on prices amid their expectations that the prices will decrease further in the coming period. However, Turkish coated steel producers have been unwilling to decrease their prices due to the strength of raw material prices.

Accordingly, domestic producers’ HDG prices in the local Turkish market, excluding 18 percent VAT, are at the following levels:

Product

Price ($/mt)

Weekly change ($/mt)

HDG   0.50 mm  100gr/m²

690-720

-

HDG   1 mm  100gr/m²

635-690

-

HDG   2 mm  100gr/m²

595-615

-

In the given period, price inquiries for Turkish HDG have continued to be made in the international markets, while Turkish HDG export offers have remained stable week on week at $685-705/mt FOB.
