Over the past week, demand in the local Turkish pre-painted galvanized iron (PPGI) market has remained slack, while prices have remained stable. Buyers are continuing to exert downward pressure on prices, though Turkish coated steel producers are unwilling to decrease their prices as their order books are fairly full. Due to the approach of the local elections in Turkey to be held in late March, demand in the local Turkish PPGI market is unlikely to improve in the coming period and buyers are expected to continue to adopt a cautious stance about making new bookings.
As a result, Turkish producers' domestic PPGI prices are still at $975-1,005/mt for RAL 9002 0.3 mm 100 gr/m² zinc-coated PPGI, at $815-845/mt for RAL 9002 0.5 mm PPGI and at $710-750/mt for RAL 9002 1 mm PPGI. All the offers in question are on ex-works basis and exclude 18 percent VAT.
In the same period, Turkish PPGI export quotations have remained stable at $815-835/mt FOB.
