Over the past week, demand in the local Turkish hot dip galvanized (HDG) coil market, where prices declined two weeks ago, has increased as new lower price levels have gained acceptance among buyers, resulting in deals being concluded. Accordingly, prices have remained stable week on week. Market sources state that Turkish mills’ order books have become fuller after concluding increased sales, but producers are not expected to raise their offers for their domestic market since any upward movement of prices may result in a weakening of demand.

Domestic producers’ HDG prices in the local Turkish market, excluding 18 percent VAT, are currently as follows:

Product

Price ($/mt)

Weekly change ($/mt)

HDG   0.50 mm  100gr/m²

750-790

HDG   1 mm  100gr/m²

705-740

HDG   2 mm  100gr/m²

Meanwhile, Turkish mills’ HDG export quotations have remained stable over the past week at $740-780/mt FOB.
