The last offer of Brazilian import CRC from China was priced at $608/mt, against $605/mt four weeks ago, CFR conditions for shipment to a port in the South or Southeastern coast of Brazil, with the SAE 1008/SPCC grade as reference.
In January, Brazil imported 25,200 mt of CRC, against 2,700 mt in December, the increase reflecting imports from states in the Northern and Northeastern regions of the country, reaching 19,500 mt at $504/mt, FOB conditions.
Logistical hurdles for transportation of steel products from producers in the Brazilian Southeast to clients in the North, for long distances and usually by truck, are the main reason for imports from distant origins such as China or Russia.
The main origins of Brazilian CRC imports in January were China (13,800 mt at $535/mt), Russia (8,900 mt at $463/mt) and South Korea (2,200 mt at $711/mt), all FOB conditions and different quality grades.
Meanwhile, Brazil exported in January 1,800 mt of CRC, in average at $723/mt, FOB conditions, a volume almost entirely destined to South American countries.
